Job summary

Cooper Farms is seeking a 1st shift Safety Specialist in Oakwood, OH to support the safety manager and lead key safety programs. The role requires strong people skills, at least 1 year in safety and OHSA 30 with First Aid/ CPR certification.

Work hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm, with starting pay around $19 per hour and profit-sharing bonuses. The successful candidate will inspect facilities, analyze hazards, conduct root cause analyses, and prepare written reports.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• OHSA 30 certification required.
• First Aid and CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Safety Manager in the administration of all company safety programs.
• Have working knowledge of all aspects of the safety department including responsibilities of the Safety Assistant.
• Lead and own at least two safety programs by reviewing, updating, implementing, training, and maintaining to ensure compliance.
• Conduct hazard analysis within the workplace and monitor work practices for compliance with health and safety requirements.
• Perform root cause analysis to assist/train managers in investigations and corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents and accidents to identify root causes and mitigation actions.
• Prepare and distribute written reports on findings.
• Pursue ongoing safety education through programs/classes.

Cooper Farms is currently seeking a 1st shift Safety Specialist to join our team in Oakwood.

Shift Hours

Monday through Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

Starting Rate

From $19.00/hr

Additional Pay

Monthly and year-end profit sharing bonuses (dependent upon company performance)

Job Functions

• Assist the Safety Manager in the administration of all company safety programs
• Have working knowledge of all aspects of the safety department including, but not limited to, all the responsibilities of the Safety Assistant
• Take the lead and own at least two safety programs by reviewing, updating, implementing, training, and maintaining to ensure compliance
• Conduct hazard analysis within the workplace. Inspect facilities, work areas, and equipment. Monitor work practices and procedures for compliance with health and safety requirements and identify corrective actions
• Be proficient in root cause analysis to be able to assist/train managers and supervisors in the investigation process to arrive at a sound corrective action to prevent further incidents
• Investigate incidents and accidents to identify the root cause and how to mitigate the hazards identified
• Prepare and distribute written reports on the findings
• Continuous further education with attending safety specific programs/classes

Requirements

• A High School Diploma
• Excellent people skills
• At least 1 year of experience in safety related field with safety specific education beyond OHSA 30
• OHSA 30, First Aid and CPR certification
