Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Safety Manager I to lead and oversee safety across multiple project sites within our Zero Injury Safety program. The role interacts with staff at all levels and requires flexibility, confidentiality, and proactive leadership to maintain high safety standards.

The position may supervise safety professionals and requires a bachelor’s degree in safety or equivalent, extensive construction safety experience, and a willingness to travel up to 100% to support projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety or equivalent.
• Minimum six years of construction safety experience.
• High school diploma with CHST, OSHA 500, and 10 years of continuous construction safety leadership.
• CSP certification preferred.
• Current driver's license.
• Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety software.
• Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% and uphold Mortenson policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety oversight and leadership for the Zero Injury program across multiple sites.
• Lead project teams in developing site-specific electrical safety programs.
• Identify training needs and conduct safety orientation and electrical training.
• Review safety submittals and attend meetings with subcontractors.
• Mentor Safety staff and provide professional direction.
• Track and analyze safety, injury, and OSHA data.
• Conduct work area safety audits and incident analyses.
• Monitor subcontractor safety activities for concerns.
