Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting our mission of nobody gets hurt across North America. You will learn safety programs, regulations and field practices while assisting with project safety management.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a degree in safety-related fields, with knowledge of OSHA standards, strong analytics and teamwork skills. The role offers real-world responsibilities on diverse projects and potential relocation to project sites.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or related field.
• Knowledge of construction safety and OSHA requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes.
• Ability to work with all levels in the organization.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to access all points of a construction site in varied climates and environments.
• Willingness to travel and relocate as required.

Responsibilities

• Implement and oversee the Project Safety Program including site safety policies and procedures.
• Assist in monitoring construction projects for regulatory and client compliance.
• Help establish and monitor safe working conditions for personnel.
• Provide corrective action recommendations and assist in tracking performance metrics.
• Review project work plans for accuracy and conformance with standards.
• Assist in safety program audits, coaching and onsite training.
• Travel and relocate as required to project sites.
