Job summary

Kiewit is offering a Safety Intern position within its DHO Safety team. You’ll participate in implementing the Project Safety Program, monitor field activities, and help ensure compliance with OSHA standards while gaining real-world construction-site experience.

You will develop safety policies, participate in audits, coaching, and on-site training, and may travel to multiple project sites across North America. This internship emphasizes hands-on learning and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study
• Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements
• Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skill
• Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
• Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done
• Ability to work with all levels in the organization from craft to leadership
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide‑ranging climates and environment
• The ability to travel and relocate as required

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing the Project Safety Program and site safety policies.
• Monitor construction activities for compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Help establish and maintain safe working conditions for personnel.
• Provide corrective action recommendations and track performance metrics.
• Support safety program audits, coaching, and on-site training.
• Travel and relocate as required to project sites.
