Job summary

Sysco South Florida, Inc. is seeking a Safety Specialist to support health, safety and environmental (HSE) initiatives at the operating company level in Florida.

The role focuses on implementing prevention-focused programs and training to align with Sysco’s HSE objectives, including security and crisis preparedness. Responsibilities include coordinating new hire safety orientations, maintaining training records, inspecting facilities, conducting risk assessments, and coaching associates on safe

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and/or 2+ years of safety experience with OSHA certifications.
• Experience in warehousing, manufacturing or transportation safety preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete new hire orientation training programs as assigned by Safety Director.
• Maintain records for safety programs (training logs, reports, inspections).
• Implement and train new or existing safety training programs.
• Inspect facilities to detect unsafe conditions.
• Assist investigations on vehicle accidents and injuries.
• Identify root causes and help develop corrective actions.
• Engage associates to follow safe work methods.
• Coach high-risk associates as needed.
• Monitor equipment inspections and recommend preventive measures.
• Support site management in implementing HSE plans.
• Promote a proactive safety culture.
• Provide supervisor training on root cause analysis.
• Interface with OSHA, DOT, EPA and regulators when needed.
• Contribute to annual company-wide HSE training plan.
• Develop interdepartmental relationships.
• Demonstrate problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.
• Display professional maturity and adaptability as a change agent.
