Job summary

American Electric Power in Corpus Christi, TX seeks a Safety & Health professional to advise management on S&H event policies, disseminate safety information, and coordinate safety programs across areas of responsibility. The role includes conducting observations, guiding accident prevention, and supporting regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities extend to safety analysis, contractor safety oversight, and promotion of S&H initiatives, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, health, industrial hygiene/health, or related field.
• 4 years experience in S&H or electric utility operations.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Instruct, advise, and assist in carrying out the Company's safety and health, public safety, and S&H event prevention programs, policies and procedures.
• Prepare and advise on the use of programs and materials for meetings and conferences in S&H event prevention.
• Conduct observations of personnel, tools, equipment and work practices to assure safe procedures.
• Advise and assist in S&H event analysis and serve as a resource to event analysis committee.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state and local safety regulations.
• Review and assist with contractors' adherence to safety regulations.
• Promote and enforce the Company's S&H event prevention and safety programs.
