Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks a safety and health professional to advise management on S&H event policies, coordinate programs, and disseminate safety information across areas of responsibility. The role includes conducting safety observations and providing guidance on accident prevention.

You will work with federal, state, and local regulations, assess contractor safety, and promote a comprehensive safety culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, health, industrial hygiene or a related field.
• Associate degree with two years’ electric utility field operations experience.
• High School diploma/GED with four years in S&H administration or related electric utility field operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Instruct, advise, and assist in carrying out safety and health programs and policies.
• Prepare and advise on programs and materials for meetings and conferences in S&H event prevention.
• Conduct observations of personnel, tools, equipment and work practices to ensure safe procedures.
• Advise and assist in S&H event analysis and serve as a resource to the analysis committee.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations governing safety and health.
• Review contractor adherence to safety regulations at the location.
• Promote and enforce S&H event prevention and safety programs.
