Job summary

American Electric Power in Texas is seeking a Safety and Health Coordinator to advise management on S&H policies and coordinate program implementation across assigned areas. You will disseminate safety information, conduct observations, and guide accident prevention strategies.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s in safety/health, or related fields; 2 years S&H in electric utilities for an associate degree path; and strong communication, autonomy, and computer skills. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and independence.

Responsibilities

Instruct, advise, and assist in carrying out safety and health programs and procedures.
Prepare materials for meetings and conferences in S&H event prevention.
Conduct safety observations of personnel, tools, equipment and work practices.
Advise on S&H event analysis and support event analysis committees.
Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state and local safety regulations.
Review contractor safety adherence and assist as needed.
Promote and enforce S&H event prevention and safety programs.
