Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Safety and Health professional to advise management on S&H event policies and procedures, disseminate safety information, and coordinate safety program implementation across areas of responsibility. The role includes conducting safety observations, providing guidance on accident prevention, and maintaining regulatory knowledge.

The position involves travel and the potential for advancement across grade levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, health, industrial hygiene/health or relevant field.
• Associate degree in relevant field with two years’ experience in related electric utility field operations.
• High School diploma/GED with four years in S&H administration or related electric utility field operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Instruct, advise, and assist in carrying out the Company's safety and health programs, policies and procedures.
• Prepare and advise on programs and materials for meetings and conferences in S&H event prevention.
• Conduct observations of personnel, tools, equipment and work practices to ensure safe procedures are followed.
• Advise and assist in S&H event analysis and serve as a resource to event analysis committees.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state and local safety and health regulations.
• Review and assist with contractor safety adherence inspections.
• Promote and enforce the Company's S&H event prevention and safety programs.
