Job summary

AEP Service Corporation in Corpus Christi, TX seeks an experienced Safety & Health Coordinator to advise on safety programs, disseminate policy information, and support accident prevention efforts across management. Travel will be required, and a relevant degree plus utility experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, health, industrial hygiene, or related field.
• Associate degree with two years' electric utility operations experience.
• High School diploma with four years electric utility operations experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Proficient oral and written communication.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to travel daily and occasionally overnight.

Responsibilities

• Instruct, advise, and assist in carrying out the Company's safety and health, public safety, and S&H event prevention programs, policies and procedures.
• Prepare and advise on the use of programs and materials for meetings and conferences in S&H event prevention.
• Conduct observations of AEP personnel, tools, equipment and work practices to assure that safe and proper procedures are being observed.
• Advise and assist in S&H event analysis and serve as a resource to any event analysis committee.
• Maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations governing safety and health.
• Review and assist as needed with the location's efforts to inspect contractors' adherence to safety regulations.
• Promote and enforce the Company's S&H event Prevention and Safety and Health programs.
