Job summary

Rio Tinto’s Kennecott Underground Operations in Salt Lake City, Utah, seeks a Development Superintendent to lead an underground development team focused on safety, performance, and continuous improvement. You will manage cross-disciplinary collaboration with contractors and technical services to meet mine development objectives and uphold high safety standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience in metalliferous underground mining.
• 5+ years of proven leadership experience.
• Experience as an underground Shift Supervisor.
• Experience managing safety improvement programmes in a large company.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the safe execution of underground development activities, setting standards for safety and compliance.
• Risk assessing and maintaining Safe Working Procedures for underground operations.
• Assistance with infrastructure for new and future mine development (dewatering, electrical, communications, egress).
• Regular inspections to ensure compliance with standards and procedures.
• Collaborating with mine technical service team and liaising with mining contractor to execute the plan safely and efficiently.
