Job summary

Rio Tinto is seeking a Drilling Coordinator to support safe, efficient underground drilling at Kennecott Underground near Salt Lake City. You will coordinate exploration drilling, oversee contractors, and coach teams to deliver quality data for characterization and modelling.

The role reports to the Underground Drilling Superintendent and emphasizes safety, collaboration across Geology, Geotechnical, Engineering and Operations, and adherence to Rio Tinto standards.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in underground exploration drilling.
• Experience across multiple drilling methods with supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to identify and mitigate drilling risks and implement corrective actions.
• Ability to collaborate across departments to resolve drilling issues and align priorities.
• Experience managing contract partners with coaching and accountability.
• Strong commitment to safety of yourself and your team.
• Ability to prioritise deliverables and projects while balancing resources, budget and time.

Responsibilities

• Spending significant time underground monitoring drilling activities.
• Plan, monitor and execute drilling programs with contractors.
• Collaborate across geologists, mine engineers, hydrologists and engineers to support drilling projects.
• Monitor and present technical milestones and project metrics.
• Stay current with drilling technology and industry practices.
