Job summary

Rio Tinto is seeking an Underground Shift Coordinator to support the safe construction, commissioning and operation of the Kennecott Underground Mine near Salt Lake City, Utah. The role reports to the Underground Operations Superintendent on a 5/5/4 rotating shift roster and emphasizes safety, permits and cross-team coordination.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in underground mining environments.
• Experience supporting or leading teams in supervisory roles; exposure to underground development, stope mining or underground construction.

Responsibilities

• Support safe construction, commissioning and operation of underground activities.
• Ensure permits are in place and understood before work begins.
• Conduct daily inspections of underground work areas.
• Coordinate underground work across construction, operations and contractor teams.
• Integrate daily plans between surface and underground operations.
• Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
