Job summary

Rio Tinto’s Kennecott Underground in Salt Lake City, Utah, seeks a Coordinator - Underground Fixed Plant Maintenance to coordinate fixed assets, people and daily field activities. You will help maintain safe, efficient operations while supporting production targets and asset availability.

Reporting to the Superintendent, you will lead maintenance planning, safety compliance and parts coordination, and you will troubleshoot fixed equipment with a focus on reliability and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience leading hourly employees and contractor workforces.
• Experience coordinating maintenance activities (scheduled, unscheduled and breakdown).
• Knowledge of MSHA regulations, site requirements and safe maintenance practices.
• Experience working with fixed equipment such as pumps, valves, conveyors or mixing plants.
• Ability to lead and achieve outcomes through influence.
• Advanced English language capability.

Responsibilities

• Promoting safety standards, policies and procedures and supporting compliance with MSHA regulations and site requirements.
• Participating in hazard assessments, risk reviews and incident investigations.
• Coordinating scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities for underground equipment.
• Ensuring work orders are planned, assigned and completed efficiently.
• Working with Operations to balance maintenance demands with production needs and minimize equipment downtime.
• Supporting planners with maintenance material forecasting and critical spare-parts requirements.
• Coordinating with distribution, procurement and OEM teams to support parts availability when breakdowns occur.
• Providing technical guidance when troubleshooting fixed equipment, including pumps, valves, conveyors and mixing plants.
• Coordinating equipment, personnel and daily field activities to support safe, efficient and reliable operations.
