Job summary

Hensel Phelps is hiring a Safety Engineer to support the safety manager and project teams on construction projects. You will recommend safety policies, monitor activities, and address unsafe acts or conditions in both field and office settings.

This safety-sensitive role requires knowledge of project safety programs, regulatory standards, and coordination with subcontractors to maintain a safe work environment and incident reporting. A 4-year degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree preferred.
• Occupational Safety and Health degree suggested.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Strong communication skills.
• Microsoft Office Suite, Excel-based templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate with stakeholders including Hensel Phelps staff and trade partners.
• Know the company safety and health program, owner requirements and applicable standards (EM 385-1-1).
• Assist the project superintendent with Accident Prevention Plan and safety management tools.
• Participate in the six-step quality control/safety process and follow-up inspections.
• Conduct project safety audits and maintain project files.
• Assist with OSHA inspections as necessary.
• Assist with accidents and near-miss investigations and reporting.
• Monitor Hensel Phelps and trade partner safety performance.
• Attend awareness and competent person level courses.
• Learn construction processes and roles/responsibilities of all positions.
