Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Safety Engineer to support the safety manager and project team on a construction project, applying safety policies and procedures while addressing field and office safety matters. The role involves coordinating with staff and trade partners, contributing to accident prevention plans, audits, and incident investigations, and monitoring safety performance across the project.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree is preferred.
• Occupational Safety and Health degree suggested.
• Valid Driver's License, required.
• Strong communication skills.
• Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel based templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate with stakeholders including Hensel Phelps staff, craft and trade partners.
• Knowledgeable of the company safety and health program, owner requirements and applicable regulatory standards (EM 385-1-1).
• Assist the project superintendent in maintaining the accident prevention plan and safety management tools.
• Participate in the six-step quality control/safety process including activity hazard analyses and follow-up inspections.
• Conduct project safety audits including project point files.
• Assist with OSHA inspections as necessary.
• Assist with accidents and near miss investigations, injury management and claim reporting.
• Monitor safety performance of Hensel Phelps and trade partners.
• Attend awareness and competent person level courses.
• Learn construction processes and roles.
