Job summary

Shepherd Electric Supply is seeking a Safety and Compliance Coordinator to drive safety programs across all branches in the Laurel, MD area. You will manage inspections, certifications, postings, and corrective actions to keep operations running safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Experience in workplace safety, compliance, operations, fleet safety, or warehouse safety.
• Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, fire safety, emergency preparedness, PPE, incident reporting, and training compliance requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple programs, track deadlines, maintain accurate documentation, and follow corrective actions through completion.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to educate employees, support managers, and provide clear updates to leadership.
• Comfort using safety management systems (such as SafetyAmp), fleet technology platforms (such as Samsara), spreadsheets, training records, and compliance tracking tools.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain audit-ready records.
• Ability to successfully complete pre-employment screening requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and compliance programs that support company operations and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee Emergency Action Plan programs, including branch safety postings and calendars.
• Track annual fire safety inspections, sprinkler systems, and extinguishers at all locations.
• Support incident documentation, investigations, and corrective actions through completion.
• Manage Samsara or other fleet safety tech, driver qualification files, and postings.
• Oversee forklift safety and certification programs, PPE, and equipment inspections.
• Audit training completion and report status to management; close gaps.
