Job summary

Our Client in Northern Nevada is seeking a Safety Specialist to support health and safety programs across a large-scale lithium mining and processing operation. You will work with site leadership to foster a proactive safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance throughout construction and production activities.

The role requires strong communication and leadership skills, with experience in OSHA and MSHA environments, and willingness to travel to project sites or vendor locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline.
• 2–4 years of safety experience in chemical manufacturing, mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial environments.
• OSHA and/or MSHA regulations knowledge required.
• PSM program experience preferred.
• Strong incident investigation and safety training experience.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to influence safety performance across a diverse workforce.

Responsibilities

• Support safety program development, implementation, and improvements.
• Collaborate with site leadership to promote a safety-first culture.
• Participate in safety committees and site-wide initiatives.
• Conduct routine inspections, audits, and field observations.
• Coordinate regulatory safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Perform hazard assessments and risk evaluations for materials and changes.
• Assist with industrial hygiene, including exposure monitoring.
• Review high-risk permits and manage lockout/tagout and related processes.
• Support PPE and energy isolation programs for availability and use.
• Coordinate safety orientation for contractors and visitors.
• Participate in incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Develop action plans to address safety concerns and improve performance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects to reduce risk.
• Maintain safety records and regulatory documentation.
• Build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
