Job summary

International Minerals Carlsbad LLC seeks a Mine Safety Specialist to support occupational health and safety programs at its Carlsbad mining operation. You will work with employees, contractors, supervisors, and leaders to identify hazards, manage risk, and strengthen safe work practices in surface and underground areas.

The ideal candidate has mining safety experience and a strong knowledge of OSHA requirements, with the ability to coach and influence safe behaviors across the operation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with at least three years of related experience in an industrial/mining setting, or a bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and related software; ability to communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible field presence and engage workers about hazards and safe practices.
• Perform inspections, risk assessments, and identify safety concerns to mitigate risk.
• Serve as safety resource for questions on conditions, regulations, and company safety systems.
• Identify unsafe acts/conditions and address compliance concerns promptly.
• Support incident investigations with evidence gathering and documentation.
