Job summary

Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments is seeking a Safe House Program Manager to oversee daily operations of the shelter, supervise staff, and ensure services align with contracts and trauma-informed practices.

The role requires a 4-year degree, 3+ years in program management, and experience with domestic violence survivors. On-site position in Fremont, CA with responsibilities spanning team leadership and program development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in human services, social work, counseling, psychology, criminal justice, or related field.
• At least 3 years’ experience in program management in a social service setting.
• At least two years’ experience working with domestic violence survivors.
• Experience supervising multiple staff.
• Bilingual skills and/or bicultural experience preferred.
• Employment is contingent upon passing a background investigation.
• Demonstrated understanding of domestic violence survivors and trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day oversight and operations of the safe house and ensure implementation of program services.
• Supervise safe house staff including recruiting, hiring, and training.
• Ensure compliance with contract requirements and maintain a safe environment for residents and staff.
• Manage staff scheduling, training, and development in coordination with leadership.
• Oversee service documentation, data collection, and funder reporting.
• Develop and manage the shelter program budget with leadership.
