Job summary

NANA Regional Corporation, Inc. is seeking a Security Officer to provide security at Maniilaq Village Health Clinics and surrounding areas. This is a 1 week on/1 week off rotational position, local to NANA Village with possible on-call work outside normal hours.

New hires attend a ten-day training in Kotzebue, AK with lodging and transportation provided. Responsibilities include patrolling, de-escalation, securing premises, reporting incidents, and assisting in emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must pass State of Alaska background check and pay the Alaska Guard License fee ($97).
• Ability to cooperate and work as part of a team.
• Ability to make quick decisions with minimal supervision.
• Must be on your feet 8–12 hours per shift.
• Must speak/read/write English; safety-sensitive role.

Responsibilities

• Monitor assigned areas visually, electronically, or audibly in various settings.
• Ensure safety and compliance for self and others.
• verbally de-escalate situations to protect people on-site.
• Inspect doors, windows, and other areas to verify security.
• Document incidents and report data per policies.
• Assist with events, furniture setup, and clinic preparations.
• Issue and record ID badges as needed.
• Respond to emergencies including fire safety or active shooter protocols.
• May operate safety/life-support computer programs.
• May check building systems (heating, lighting, sprinklers, etc.).
• No supervisory responsibilities; may have other duties.
