Job summary

Qualifications

• One year of creditable experience or an associate degree with health information focus as required by grade level.
• Knowledge of privacy, release of information, and related laws (HIPAA, Privacy Act, FOIA).
• Ability to utilize health information technology and office software in MRT (ROI) roles.
• Ability to coordinate priorities and follow up on pending issues.
• Ability to communicate with individuals from various backgrounds to obtain information.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate validity of each request and determine information to release.
• Process ROI requests in compliance with laws and VA directives.
• Input and track requests using ROI software packages.
• Assist visitors with forms and information requests.
• Provide guidance on release of patient information to authorized parties.
• Coordinate with Social Security requests and other agencies as required.
