Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Supervisory Medical Records Technician (ROI) at the Providence Health Care System.

This 40-hour-per-week, full-time role leads the Release of Information unit within the Health Information Management Service Line, ensuring timely and compliant PHI processing. The Supervisory MRT (ROI) must guide staff, maintain interdepartmental relations, and oversee audits, with knowledge of federal laws governing health information release.

Qualifications

• One year of creditable experience indicating knowledge of medical terminology and general health records understanding.
• Six months of the KSAs needed for ROI work.
• Education or experience combinations may qualify toward meeting basic requirements.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and proficient in English.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and serve as technical expert for the Release of Information Unit.
• Review and process requests for patient PHI.
• Provide direct customer service to Veterans or third parties with PHI releases.
• Ensure compliance with federal laws and regulations on health information release.
• Develop policy and workload analysis for release of information.
• Coordinate with other services to meet medical center goals.
• Distribute workload and monitor completion; ensure timely release of records.
