Job summary

Stryker is seeking a curious, hands-on engineer to advance the Mako robotic-assisted orthopedic platform. You will work across software, hardware, and clinical partners to translate needs into actionable requirements and drive prototyping, testing, and design decisions.

You will collaborate with software, controls, mechanical, platform, and verification teams while engaging surgeons to refine workflows and ensure patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline.
• 2+ years of industry experience in engineering product development.
• Experience with robotic or multidisciplinary systems preferred.
• Experience prototyping, system integration, testing, or troubleshooting.
• Experience translating needs into engineering specifications;
• Familiarity with MATLAB, C, C++, Python.

Responsibilities

• Support design, development, implementation, and integration of features for Stryker's Mako robotic-assisted platform across software, robotics, implants, and instrumentation.
• Translate clinical and user needs into system requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Develop and evaluate early concepts and prototypes to demonstrate feasibility and inform design decisions.
• Apply engineering judgment, experimentation, and trade-off analysis to balance requirements.
• Work hands-on with integrated robotic systems to evaluate performance and identify root causes.
• Collaborate with software, controls, mechanical, platform, and test engineers to bring features from concept to development.
• Maintain system requirements and design documentation with traceability and design control activities.
• Collaborate with verification teams to ensure measurable requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Interact with surgeons and clinical stakeholders to understand workflows and incorporate feedback.
• Analyze test data using engineering and statistical methods to support decisions.
• Support product lifecycle from concept through launch and post-launch support.
• Stay current on emerging technologies to improve performance and development efficiency.
