Job summary

Stryker Corporation in Portage, MI is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join the Mako Enabling Technology team within Research & Development. You will design, develop, and verify mechanical and electro-mechanical components for next-generation robotic orthopedic devices, translating user needs into robust specifications, and leading prototyping and testing efforts.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, at least four years of experience, and proficiency with Creo.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum four years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience designing mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Proficiency in GD&T and engineering drawing creation.
• Experience with CAE tools and DFM principles is a plus.
• Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with risk management and quality systems in a regulated environment.
• Experience using Creo for 3D modeling and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and verify components and subsystems for medical devices with minimal supervision.
• Translate user needs into design specifications and deliver system-level solutions.
• Lead prototyping and testing efforts to validate design performance.
• Identify and resolve complex design issues using data-driven analysis to improve processes and outcomes.
• Apply clinical knowledge to author design inputs and support Voice of Customer sessions.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and mentor others in design control practices.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History Files.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to drive projects from concept through launch.
