Job summary

DoorDash Labs, an independent team within DoorDash, seeks a Hardware Prototype Engineering Technician in San Francisco to build and service robotic systems. You will own end-to-end test platform buildouts, develop wiring harnesses, and integrate sensors and compute systems while working closely with hardware and service engineering teams.

You will gain hands-on experience with electromechanical systems, troubleshooting, calibration, and field-site support, in a fast-paced lab/warehouse setting.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to assemble prototypes and wiring harnesses.
• Strong reading of schematics and datasheets.
• Soldering, crimping, and cable management proficiency.
• Experience with electromechanical systems and robotics.
• Familiarity with 3D printers and common shop tools.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, repair, and troubleshoot complex electromechanical systems.
• Own end-to-end build and delivery of test fixtures and prototypes.
• Develop wiring harnesses and assemble compute systems.
• Integrate electronics and sensors; calibrate and diagnose issues.
• Maintain organized inventory and lab environment.
• Procure components and manage supplier relationships.
• Collaborate with engineering to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
• Document assembly procedures for repeatability.
• Support on-site customer or field testing.
