Job summary
DoorDash Labs in Oakland develops autonomous delivery robotics and related automation. We seek a Hardware Validation Engineer to verify system requirements for Dot, and to develop and execute test campaigns ensuring performance, safety, and regulatory goals.
You will join a cross-disciplinary V&V team, work with hardware owners to design tests, and contribute to test tooling, documentation, and issue resolution across multiple environments and test sites.
Qualifications
- BS/MS/PhD in engineering (robotics, mech, electrical, CS)
- 5+ years in automotive/mechatronics testing & validation at system level
- Hands-on CAN bus & Ethernet data logging & analysis
- Environmental testing experience (thermal, shock, IP)
- Strong track record managing cross-functional projects
- Good understanding of vehicle mechanics and electronics
- Familiarity with autonomous vehicle perception systems
Responsibilities
- Validate our next-generation robot delivery hardware
- Develop and execute robot system tests with requirement owners
- Validate electrical, mechanical, thermal, safety, and sensing performance
- Improve robot reliability through rigorous testing and troubleshooting
- Collaborate across DevOps, Software, Firmware, Controls, AI and Ops
- Construct and maintain test tooling, fixtures and docs
- Lead test reviews and report progress
