Job summary

Formic, reimagining American manufacturing, seeks a Robotics Field Service Technician to join the Fleet Operations Team. You will perform preventive maintenance, carry out repairs, and represent Formic on customer sites, ensuring uptime and reliability of our robotic fleet.

In this hands-on role, you’ll collaborate with Engineering, document work clearly, and follow safety protocols. Travel up to ~80% and overtime are expected; robust reporting and customer-facing communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on field service or maintenance experience supporting robotic or industrial automation systems.
• Solid troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, PLC, or robotic control systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic drawings.
• Experience using CMMS platforms to track and report maintenance activity.
• Comfortable with local travel up to 80% and overnight travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on robotic manufacturing cells following established checklists and procedures.
• Perform directed corrective maintenance and repairs as assigned by engineering, dispatch, or senior technicians.
• Respond to on-site service calls, follow structured troubleshooting steps, and elevate complex or unresolved issues to engineering.
• Provide hands-on technical support to customer operators and maintenance teams.
• Log service activity, asset updates, and spare part requirements in CMMS.
• Follow assigned field schedules and coordinate day-to-day logistics with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor system performance using Formic dashboards and fleet tools, and report anomalies to engineering.
• Document service work and follow-up actions with clarity and precision.
• Flag recurring issues or failure patterns to engineering for further investigation.
• Build professional, trusted relationships with plant managers and site personnel.
• Operate with strict adherence to safety standards, including LOTO and industrial compliance.
• Support RCA sessions, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives as directed.
• Continuously build technical skills across robotics, controls, networking, and industrial systems.
