Job summary

Albany Medical Center seeks a full-time Physician Assistant to join the Orthopedic and Robotic Surgical Services perioperative team on a busy, collaborative floor. You will work with surgeons using Da Vinci Xi, dv5, and Mako robotics while assisting a variety of surgical specialties in a learning-focused environment.

The role emphasizes perioperative care, first/second assist duties, and ongoing professional development, with flexible scheduling options and potential additional weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant degree program OR Master’s Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with RNFA training.
• Must be licensed and actively registered as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in New York State.
• ACLS/BLS certification required; HIPAA compliance at all times.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Able to quickly master a computerized medical recordkeeping and billing system.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive perioperative care for surgical patients.
• Assist surgeons during a wide range of procedures, including robotic-assisted surgeries.
• Perform first- and second-assist duties in the operating room.
• Collaborate with perioperative nursing staff to ensure safe, efficient patient care.
• Participate in a collaborative learning environment with mentorship across specialties.
• Engage in ongoing professional development of surgical techniques and best practices.
