Job summary

Albany Medical Center seeks a full-time Physician Assistant to join the Orthopedic and Robotic Surgical Services Perioperative team. You will gain hands-on exposure to advanced robotic technology (DaVinci Xi, dv5, Mako inOrthopedics) while supporting a busy surgical environment.

The successful candidate will collaborate with experienced surgeons, perform first- and second-assist duties in the OR, and participate in ongoing professional development across multiple specialties.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant degree program or a Master’s in NP with RNFA training.
• Must be licensed and actively registered as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in New York State.
• ACLS/BLS certification required.
• Able to quickly master all aspects of a computerized medical recordkeeping and billing system.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive perioperative care for surgical patients.
• Assist surgeons during a wide range of procedures, including robotic-assisted.general, urology, gynecology, thoracic & colorectal, total joints, sports medicine, foot & ankle, and upper extremity in Orthopedics.
• Perform first- and second-assist duties in the operating room.
• Collaborate with perioperative nursing staff and surgical teams for safe, efficient patient care.
• Participate in a collaborative learning environment with mentorship across specialties.
• Maintain proficiency in evolving surgical techniques and perioperative best practices.
• Document patient encounters and operative notes accurately.
• Engage in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
