The State of Iowa Department of Transportation seeks a Highway Technician Associate to support maintenance and safety on Iowa roadways. The role involves patching road surfaces, repairing guardrails, managing signage and drainage, and assisting with snow removal and vegetation control.

You’ll start at Altoona Maintenance Garage with residency within 45 minutes, Monday–Friday 7:00–3:30, on-call during emergencies, and possible overnight travel.

Qualificações

• Graduation from high school, GED, or equivalency.
• CDL permit upon hire; Class A CDL with endorsements within 5 months.
• Successful U.S. DOT Clearinghouse query.
• Pre-employment physical and pre-employment drug screen.

Responsabilidades

• Patch roadway and maintain pavement surfaces.
• Repair and maintain guardrails, signs, fences, lighting, culverts, and waterways.
• Participate in traffic control for maintenance activities.
• Pick up and dispose of litter and debris.
• Operate snow equipment to remove snow, ice, and frost.
• Mow, trim brush and vegetation; apply spray as needed; routine DOT equipment servicing.
