Job summary

The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking a Highway Technician Associate to join the Sioux City maintenance team. Your day may involve patching roadways, maintaining signs, mowing, and assisting with winter weather operations, all with safety as a priority.

Shift is 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with on-call duties during emergencies; some overnight travel may be required. Residency within 45 minutes is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CDL permit upon hire; Class A endorsements due within 5 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Patching roadway.
• Repairing and maintaining guardrails, signs, fences, lighting, culverts, and waterways.
• Participating in traffic control for maintenance activities.
• Picking up and disposing of litter and debris.
• Operating snow equipment to remove snow, ice and frost from roadways.
• Mowing, cutting brush, weed and vegetation control and spraying.
