Job summary

State of Iowa - Executive Branch is seeking a Highway Technician Associate in Altoona. The role involves roadside patching, maintaining guardrails, signs, and drainage, plus traffic control during maintenance operations.

The position requires a CDL permit with Class A and endorsements within 5 months. Training is provided; benefits include IPERS, health and dental coverage, and paid time off. Office location is the Altoona Maintenance Garage with residency within 45 minutes after five months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Total of four years of education and/or full-time highway maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Patch roadways.
• Repair and maintain guardrails, signs, fences, lighting, culverts, and waterways.
• Assist with traffic control for maintenance activities.
• Pick up and dispose of litter and debris.
• Operate snow equipment for snow/ice removal.
• Mow and manage vegetation; spraying where applicable.
• Perform routine maintenance on DOT equipment and vehicles.
