Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to obtain Class A or B CDL within 180 days of hire.
• Knowledge of materials, supplies, methods, and tools for road maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing continuing education.
• Weed spraying certification may be required.
• Preference to reside in Hutchinson County and be available on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including maintainers, tandem trucks, spreaders, loaders, sweepers, rollers, packers, and oil distributors for road maintenance and repair.
• Repair guard rails, highway markers, and snow fences; patch pavement as needed.
• Maintain safety and compliance with traffic laws and departmental rules.
• Install signing and traffic control devices and assist with safety training.
• Maintain records and reports as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
