Job summary

Minnehaha County is seeking a Highway Maintenance Team Member to join a skilled crew maintaining county roads and bridges year-round. You will operate a range of equipment, perform winter snow/ice removal, and assist with drainage, pothole repair, and routine road maintenance.

A High School diploma or GED is required, along with a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement and a clean driving record. The role includes opportunities for training, benefits, and a strong team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Knowledge of basic road construction and repair methods.
• Demonstrated safety awareness and reliable teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Operate basic light, medium, and heavy equipment including bulldozers, excavators, and trucks.
• Perform snow and ice removal to keep roads safe.
• Repair and maintain culverts, ditches, and drainage to prevent water pooling.
• Patching potholes, resurfacing, and ensuring road integrity.
• Install and repair fence wires and posts to secure perimeters.
• Use spray equipment to control weeds while maintaining safety.
