The State of South Carolina is seeking a maintenance worker to operate medium equipment and assist in roadway maintenance across districts in Walterboro. The role includes loading materials, flagging traffic, and performing routine vehicle inspections.

Requirements include six months of related experience or an equivalent, and obtaining a Class A CDL within six months. A valid driver's license is required, with potential for on-call duties in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Responsabilités

• Operates medium equipment (tandem dump truck, belt loader, large roller >4 tons) for hauling materials.
• Assists in the operation of a backhoe for loading materials needed for maintenance operations.
• Performs pre-operation maintenance inspection on vehicle/equipment as outlined in specifications.
• Sets up and flags traffic according to MUTCD standards to warn motorists of roadwork ahead.
• Performs duties in manual labor such as cleaning ditches, paving driveways and repairing bridges.
