Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to support the maintenance, repair, and preservation of state roads and bridges. You will operate medium and heavy equipment, perform manual labor, and assist with signs, drainage, and curb work as part of a field crew.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and preserve roads and bridges on the state highway system.
• Operate motorized equipment (belt loaders, rollers, skid steer, dump trucks, etc.).
• Perform patching, ditch cleaning, sign installation, and concrete work for curbs and sidewalks.
• Assist in vegetation management, drainage work, and safety inspections of equipment.
• Be available for on-call rotations and extended hours during emergencies or weather events.
