Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking personnel for roadway maintenance, operating and maintaining medium motorized equipment. Tasks include road/bridge work within the state highway system and coordinating traffic control for work zones.

Applicants must have six months of related work experience or equivalent, plus a valid operator’s license and must obtain a Class A CDL within six months of placement. Extended hours may apply.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains medium motorized equipment used in roadway maintenance.
• Works on the State highway system inspecting roads and bridges.
• Coordinates traffic control devices for maintenance work zones.
• Performs right-of-way management with tools like chainsaw, weed eater, and pumps.
• May require extended hours or 12-hour shifts and emergency response.
