Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a maintenance worker to operate tandem dump trucks and a range of medium-duty equipment for highway and bridge maintenance across the state highway system.

Responsibilities include assisting with traffic control, flagging in work zones, and supporting on-call repairs and weather-related operations, including extended shifts when required.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of related work experience or equivalent.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license required on entry.
• Must obtain Class A CDL within six months of placement.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical duties as described.
• May require overtime or extended shifts during inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Operate tandem dump truck and belt loader for highway maintenance.
• Operate rollers and other equipment for highway and bridge work.
• Assist with placement of traffic control devices and flagging in work zones.
• Support on-call repairs, emergency operations and adverse weather shifts.
