Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is looking for a maintenance worker to support road and bridge upkeep on the state highway system. Under supervision, you will operate dump trucks and other equipment, install signs, manage vegetation, and perform drainage and pothole repair work.

Applicants must obtain a Class A CDL within six months, be able to lift up to 50 lbs, and work outdoors in all weather. Occasional extended hours during emergencies may be required.

Qualifications

• There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Maintain roads and bridges on the state highway system under supervision.
• Operate dump trucks and other heavy equipment for maintenance tasks.
• Install/repair signs, manage vegetation, and clean drainage ditches.
• Pave driveways and patch potholes; assist in snow/ice removal and traffic control.
