Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking an Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager for Erie County to help plan roadway improvements and support daily maintenance activities. You will supervise crews, evaluate projects, manage resources, and coordinate with local representatives to establish priorities for ongoing and upcoming work.

This full-time role runs 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with no telework option. A valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, Roadway Programs Coordinator, or Transportation Construction Manager 1, or equivalent.
Six years of technical experience in highway maintenance, highway construction, or maintenance of heavy equipment.
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

Program Planning: Develop maintenance programs, estimates, and plans for roadway and bridge needs
Crew Supervision: Guide general and specialized crews in daily maintenance and minor construction work
Work Evaluation: Inspect projects, review practices, and coordinate contract oversight
Resource Management: Manage requisitions, monitor permits, and handle materials and equipment requests
Staff Leadership: Assign tasks, review performance, coach employees, and support training and development
Community Coordination: Work with local representatives to discuss projects and establish priorities
