Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation seeks an Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager in Dauphin County to oversee roadway and bridge maintenance and coordinate maintenance programs. This role offers a 7:00 AM–3:00 PM schedule, potential AWS, and part-time telework opportunities within Pennsylvania.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, Roadway Programs Coordinator, or Transportation Construction Manager 1 or equivalent.
• Six years of technical experience in highway maintenance, highway construction, or maintenance of heavy equipment.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Develop maintenance plans, estimates, and schedules for surface treatment, patching, snow removal, signage, and bridge repair.
• Lead highway and bridge maintenance crews and coordinate minor construction activities.
• Review work plans, resource requests, and project needs to support operational goals.
• Manage agility agreements and meet with local partners to set priorities for shared services.
• Oversee incident response activities and ensure compliance with environmental permits.
• Conduct inspections and monitor staff work and contracted maintenance tasks.
