Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an experienced maintenance worker to operate heavy equipment, perform drainage and road repairs, and lead a crew on job sites. You will install pipes, manage traffic control, and ensure safety practices among team members while preparing daily records of work performed and materials used.

Applicants should have two years of related work experience, a valid driver’s license, and must obtain a Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Qualifications

• Two years of related work experience or equivalent experience.
• Must have a valid driver’s license at hire.
• Must obtain a Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Operate front-end loader and backhoe to clean drainage ditches and install pipes.
• Lead a maintenance crew and supervise safety practices on site.
• Perform road maintenance tasks including ditch cleaning, shoulder repairs, paving, and curb/sidewalk work.
• Set up work zone traffic control and flag traffic during repairs.
• Inspect and record work performed and materials used; maintain equipment per SCDOT guidelines.
