Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support road and bridge upkeep across the state highway system. You will operate a range of heavy equipment and perform manual tasks such as patching, drainage work, and sign installations, under supervision.

Required is at least 1 year of related experience or an equivalent, plus a valid driver's license and within six months of placement, you must obtain a Class A CDL.

Responsibilities

• Maintain roads and bridges on the state highway system under supervision.
• Operate motorized and heavy equipment including graders, backhoes, dump trucks.
• Perform drainage work, pipe installation, sign installation, and curb/sidewalk tasks.
• Conduct safety inspections and routine maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Assist with traffic control setup and on-call weather or emergency operations.
