Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's PennDOT seeks a CDL Operator A to operate trucks, loaders and related equipment for highway maintenance. You will assist with repairs, flag traffic, and perform manual tasks to keep roads safe and open.

The role requires CDL credentials, a Medical Examiner’s certificate, and Tank Vehicle endorsement during probation; telework is not available and overtime may be required. Work hours are 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with travel and seasonal adjustments.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee program or equivalent.
• Graduation from a Commercial Driver’s License Training School or equivalent.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, loaders and other equipment for highway maintenance.
• Maintain CDL credentials and perform pre/post operation checks.
• Flag traffic and guide vehicles when equipment is not in use.
• Perform manual labor such as cleaning culverts and repairing guiderails.
• Make field adjustments, clean equipment, and assist mechanics.
• Follow safety procedures and report hazards.
