Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's PennDOT is seeking a CDL Operator to maintain highways and bridges by operating equipment and performing field tasks. You will learn and apply safety procedures, perform equipment checks, and work as part of a team to support travel safety across the Commonwealth.

Responsibilities include operating trucks and loaders, ensuring CDL compliance, flagging traffic, and performing routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee program or equivalent.
• Graduation from a Commercial Driver’s License Training School or equivalent.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, loaders, and other assigned equipment.
• Maintain a valid CDL and perform required pre and post operation checks.
• Perform flagging duties to direct traffic safely during work activities.
• Use hand and power tools to complete roadway and bridge maintenance tasks.
• Make adjustments, perform minor repairs, and clean equipment for safe operation.
• Follow safety procedures, report hazards, and be aware of work zone risks.
