Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's PennDOT is seeking a CDL Operator to maintain highways and bridges in the Danville area. You will operate heavy trucks and loaders, follow safety procedures, and support mechanics and coworkers to ensure safe travel.

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Overtime and travel may be required. The starting salary is $45,888 per year before taxes.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program or equivalent.
• Graduation from a Commercial Driver’s License Training School.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, loaders, and other machinery for highway and bridge maintenance.
• Follow required safety practices and report incidents, unsafe actions, or near misses.
• Perform flagger duties to guide traffic safely when equipment is in use.
• Use hand tools and power tools to clear culverts, cut brush, and repair guiderails.
• Complete daily pre and post operation checks and basic maintenance.
• Assist mechanics and coworkers with repairs, adjustments, and proper documentation.
