Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation is seeking a Highway Foreman 2 to supervise maintenance crews and plan year-round work to keep roadways safe and functional. You will guide projects from start to finish and manage daily operations on-site in Pennsylvania.

The role offers full-time hours, a 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM schedule, and a starting salary of $54,162 per year. Telework is not available, and candidates must have a valid PA Class C driver's license.

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Crew Supervision: Direct crews in the use of heavy equipment and hand tools for general highway maintenance
• Maintenance Operations: Carry out tasks such as patching, drainage work, sweeping, litter pickup, and emergency response
• Complaint Resolution: Review road conditions, investigate complaints, and recommend work priorities
• Safety Leadership: Select proper traffic control setups and promote a safe environment for crews and the public
• Employee Management: Interview, train, evaluate, and guide employees in daily and long-term tasks
• Equipment Oversight: Make field adjustments to vehicles and equipment with hand tools
