Job summary

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking an Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager to support maintenance operations across McKean County, planning work, directing crews, and overseeing roadway projects.

In this role you will perform duties including maintenance planning, crew supervision, work scheduling, coordination with local organizations, inspections, and personnel management. The position is full-time with a typical daytime schedule; AWS option after probation.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, Roadway Programs Coordinator, or Transportation Construction Manager 1.
• Six years of technical experience in highway maintenance, highway construction, or maintenance of heavy equipment.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• All positions require possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance Planning: Develop plans and estimates for roadway, bridge, and seasonal maintenance operations.
• Crew Supervision: Direct general and specialized crews during maintenance and minor construction work.
• Work Scheduling: Prepare drafts of long range, annual, monthly, and weekly work plans.
• Agility Coordination: Work with local organizations to negotiate and oversee fair service exchange agreements.
• Inspection Oversight: Review maintenance activities and coordinate inspections of contract work.
• Personnel Management: Assign tasks, evaluate performance, coach employees, and address staffing needs.
