DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role centers on supervising highway maintenance crews and planning work that keeps roadways safe and functional. You will guide projects from start to finish and ensure that daily operations run smoothly. As a Highway Foreman 2, you will perform the following duties:

• Crew Supervision: Direct crews in the use of heavy equipment and hand tools for general highway maintenance
• Maintenance Operations: Carry out tasks such as patching, drainage work, sweeping, litter pickup, and emergency response
• Complaint Resolution: Review road conditions, investigate complaints, and recommend work priorities
• Safety Leadership: Select proper traffic control setups and promote a safe environment for crews and the public
• Employee Management: Interview, train, evaluate, and guide employees in daily and long-term tasks
• Equipment Oversight: Make field adjustments to vehicles and equipment with hand tools

WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $54,162.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements

• One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements

• You must be in possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License.
